    A JOURNEY to Montana geology

    SUMMER 2025 CAMAS TOURS

The Camas Prairie Ripples, located 12 miles north of Perma, Montana,  appear as prominent ridges 15 to 50 feet high, 100 to 250 feet wide, and  from 300 feet to a half-mile long – the largest ripples on earth. This is a longer Tour with many stops that include geological formations at the South End of Flathead Lake at the Polson Moraine and a trip up the mountain behind the Buffalo Preserve that is the overlook North to the expanse of Glacier Lake Missoula. A beautiful introduction to Montana! Booking Now!

Three DAY TOUR TO LIBBY FALLS, EUREKA, CHIEF CLIFF

Fossils, folds, and very old – the Kootenai Falls geology is composed of  metamorphic (quartzite) and sedimentary (limestone) rocks of the Belt  Su-pergroup. These 1.5 billion year old rocks contain excellently  preserved mud chips, salt casts, and ripple marks that signify an  ancient shallow sea. The area also offers impressive views of folded  rock layers north of the river and in the road cut along Highway 2.  Slight folds in the underlying geology are responsible for the dramatic  stair-step-like waterfall.
